Lab Tests Online Wins Gold
November 12, 2003
November 13, 2003 -- Lab Tests Online has won a Gold Award for Best Health/Healthcare Content in the fourth annual eHealthcare Leadership Awards. The Awards recognize the best web sites from healthcare organizations, online health companies, pharmaceutical firms, and business improvement initiatives. AACC, producer of the site, accepted the award on behalf of its 13 collaborating partners (noted below the masthead at the top of the page) and more than 25 sponsors (current sponsors identified at left).
The Gold Award is the second recent award recognizing the sites impact (see ASAE Honors Lab Tests Online at Award Dinner), capping a year of achievement for the web site. In addition to the two awards, the site has continued to expand its reach so that it now gets more than 225,000 visits per month. The staff and volunteers who work on the site are often rewarded with comments like these (from visitors to the site in October 2003):
Your site has been very helpful to hundreds of the users of our breast cancer List Server. Thank you.
I love your site. It has helped me many times providing info to patients and to educate myself and other nurses.
I will refer others to the site--I only just discovered it in a Google search a short while ago. The site was very helpful, and I am most grateful for its existence. The fact that you are a ".org" helps me feel confident that there are no outside interests providing me the information.
The eHealthcare Awards are given in 9 categories. For each category, entrants are identified by one of 17 organizational types to ensure that they compete against others of comparable type, size, and resources. Winners in each category and classification are identified at one of four levels -- Platinum, Gold, Silver, and Distinguished. In many cases, however, awards were made at only two or three levels for each grouping.
Lab Tests Online is a highly-specialized patient education site that provides easy to understand information on lab tests and related topics. Content for the site is developed by laboratorians, with all material reviewed by representatives from 14 laboratory professional societies. Funding support is provided by more than 25 corporate sponsors.
