Czech and Greek Launches bring Lab Tests Online Sites to 10

October 29, 2008

October 21, 2008--The American Association for Clinical Chemistry (AACC) announces the launch of two new translated versions of its popular patient education website, Lab Tests Online. The site’s award-winning content is now available in eight languages, including Greek and Czech, the two newest versions.

Over the last five years, AACC has licensed Lab Tests Online to laboratory professional societies in other countries, so that they could adapt the language and content of the site to the national population and to each country’s policies and practices. AACC acknowledged that many of the visitors to Lab Tests Online may be under stress due to their health situation and so the association has sought to make the content as accessible as possible through such translated versions of the site.

In Athens last week, the Greek Society of Clinical Chemistry and Clinical Biochemistry (GSCC-CB) formally launched Lab Tests Online-GR during the opening ceremony of a meeting of the Balkan Clinical Laboratory Federation. The site had its “soft” launch during the AACC annual meeting held in Washington, DC, in July 2008.

Lab Tests Online-CZ launched in the Czech Republic on October 10 during a ceremony to mark the 50th anniversary of the Czech Society of Clinical Biochemistry (CSCB). The Czech division of the European Diagnostic Manufacturers Association (EDMA) is supporting CSCB in this ambitious effort, following the industry support model applied to the Lab Tests Online sites in Greece, Spain, Germany, Italy, Hungary, and Poland.

Lab Tests Online has also been adapted in the United Kingdom and Australia.

Lab Tests Online currently averages 1.2 million visitors per month in the US and is a global standard for patient education. The original site is produced by AACC and is collaboratively developed by AACC and 18 other laboratory organizations. The site is funded through annual corporate sponsorship contributions.
