Lab Tests Online-AU Gets New Look
March 16, 2010
March 16, 2010—AACC and the Australasian Association for Clinical Biochemistry (AACB) relaunched Lab Tests Online-Australia (www.labtestsonline.org.au) earlier this month after giving it a new look and added features. It was the first major update to the site’s design since it went live in 2007. Lab Tests Online-AU is the fourth site in the Lab Tests Online network to don the new look and feel that debuted on the US version of the site last summer.
The revamped site boasts the same award-winning content but now includes improved navigation, a cleaner design, and more modern functionality. It also showcases a strengthened Lab Tests Online brand across the global network. Clicking on flags from Australia, the US, the UK, and China at the top of the page makes it easy to jump from one national site to the next, and highlights the new Lab Tests Online identity and the clean, consistent design. At the same time, variations in the color scheme of each site and in the photograph used in the page banner allow each site to establish a unique national identity. The photo also adds a touch of humanity to the lab profession for this consumer-facing website.
Here’s what one user had to say recently about Lab Tests Online:
Simplicity is hard to achieve when the subject is complex. Your website is eloquent, highly informative, useful. Easy to navigate. Minimal noise, e.g., highlighted sections and explanatory pop-ups were appropriate. White background & double spacing are “easy on the eyes”. Credibility quickly established by 1) the HONcode logo, and 2) varied and reputable sponsors. Thanks.
A common technology platform also unites the four sites, making it very easy at the back-end for the sites to share the look and feel established by AACC. New Lab Tests Online sites in Turkey and Brazil are being developed on the same platform, and will launch with the new design and functionality in the not-too-distant future. The 10 Lab Tests Online sites that are coordinated by the European Diagnostic Manufacturers Association share a different technology platform but are in the process of adopting the same look and feel and are expected to relaunch by the summer.
For almost a decade, Lab Tests Online has helped millions of patients and their families understand the many lab tests that are used to screen for and diagnose a wide range of conditions and diseases, and to monitor their treatment. Winner of numerous awards for the quality of its content, the website provides detailed information on more than 250 lab tests and related topics, such as the meaning of reference ranges and the reliability of lab test results. Now with sites online or in development in 14 languages and localized for 16 countries around the world, Lab Tests Online is both the premier patient resource for lab testing information and a global standard for patient education.
