Not directly and there is no reason to do so. SHBG is used to help evaluate a person's hormone balance. In some cases, testosterone and/or estrogen replacement therapy may be used to correct a deficiency. Researchers are now exploring the benefits and risks of testosterone replacement in elderly men (men undergoing "andropause") and postmenopausal (or surgical menopausal) women. It will be some time before it is established whether and when this treatment is safe, effective, and clinically useful.
